The Death of a Lumberjack
Overview
In this contemplative French-Canadian film, a young woman embarks on a quest to find the father she never met. Marie Chapdelaine (Carole Laure) was raised in a secluded part of Quebec, unaware of her father, a lumberjack. She relocates to Montreal, takes a job as a topless dancer, and begins her search. With assistance from his former lover, she locates the logging camp where he worked, only to learn he died in a labor conflict.
